Huff & Puff Garden

Once a year Elaine Silets, President of Huff & Puff Industries, Ltd., better known as the "The Train Lady"® opens up her private estate to the public so they can see the elaborate model railroads she's built there. AB and I made it this year.











Meeting us there: AB's grandparents, aunt, uncle and couple of his cousins.



Afterwards we went back to his grandparents' for a hearty lunch...

Father's Day on the Zip Line

Kidz Fly 2011

This morning AB and I drove to the Fox Valley Aero Club for their annual Kidz Fly event. This is where children get up-close with radio controlled aircraft, learn how they work, ask questions, and even get a chance to take the controls to fly one with an instructor.

Victory Day 2011

Back on May 9th we observed Victory Day, the traditional Russian holiday that we refer to in the West as VE-Day. And in keeping with tradition to honor defenders of the Motherland (Родина), AB dons his pilotka (пилотка), a field cap worn by Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War.....



Of course when you're seven, it's pretty hard to avoid getting silly, even when observing a most solemn holiday....
